Centenary: 1903-2003

The Classical Association celebrated 100 years of promoting all aspects of Classics in 2003. To mark this, the Association produced a centenary history, edited by Dr Christopher Stray, The Classical Association: The First Century 1903-2003 (ISBN: 0198528744)
The centenary volume includes a narrative history of the CA in the 20th century and a series of studies of different aspects of its work. There are detailed accounts of the foundation and early years, the difficult period of the late 1950s and 60s and the last thirty years. The different aspects of the Association's activities are highlighted in chapters covering branch activities, conferences, journals and the Presidential Addresses (three of which are reprinted). A centenary account of the Classical Association of Scotland is also included.
Copies of the centenary history are available from the Office for £8.95 (members)/£9.95 (non-members). Please contact the Secretary for further details.
To mark its centenary, the Hellenic and Roman Societies presented the Classical Association with specially commissioned verses composed by Prof JHC Leach.
